Kiwanis Life Member Awards provide a unique opportunity to acknowledge those who perpetuate the Objects and objectives of Kiwanis International. Eligible recipients must be active, privileged, or senior members and must have been a Kiwanian for at least three years. Life Time Awards must be granted by a Kiwanis Club and approved by its Board of Directors and the application must be signed by the President and Secretary.  Individuals cannot buy a Life Time Award on their own.  This award may also be granted by its division or district following different procedures and guidelines.

Each member granted Life Member Awards receives a gold-tone personalized membership card individually numbered and a permanent record of their status is maintained at the International Office.  A duplicate membership card made of a metal plate mounted on plastic is also awarded to be displayed in the home or office of the awardee. Life Time Members also get a gold membership badge inscribed with their name, number, and Life Time Member status to wear when attending Kiwanis functions.

After club pays the Life Time Membership fee which is fifteen times annual dues, that member will never again be required to pay any International dues.  Congratulations, Geri, we are honored to confer upon you this unique award for your many years of service to our club and our community. by: Harry W. Excerpts from articles on a few of the prior awards conferred upon Geri Mayers:

Unsung Hero--by Lynne Mercer The Early Bird Nov. 2002--...Geri Mayers is well known within the Redwood City community and has been a member of the Woodside Terrace Kiwanis Club ince 1987. Geri has served in leadership positions in our club as President, Treasurer, and Board of Directors Member, and has served on our Scholarship Committee, our Membership Committee, and our Key Club Advisor's Committee. At the Kiwanis Division level, she has also served as Ambassador to the Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation and as Sergeant-at-Arms at many Kiwanis Conventions. Geri worked tirelessly to involve our club early in the Kiwanis World-Wide Service Project to eliminate Iodine Deficiency Disorder (the world's largest cause of preventable mental retardation) and, as a result of personal commitment and contributions to this cause, was the only Kiwanian in our Division to receive a personal invitation to the UNICEF Gala to celebrate the successfully conclusion of this seven year project in 2001....To honor her late husband, Geri established a Community Service Scholarship three years ago to recognize a deserving student for outstanding community service.

Citizen of the Year by Lynne Mercer The Early Bird Feb. 2002--...Geri has contributed so much to Redwood City over the years, in so many ways, that it is difficult to summarize all of her accomplishments. She has worked tirelessly for the downtown merchant’s society and has been a member of numerous service organizations in addition to our own. Geri was the driving force in the formation of the Unsung Hero Award Program. She is a strong supporter of Sequoia Hospital and a great Kiwanian as well. Geri was the first female member of our club and the first female president of our club...[Geri] has worked on the Key Club Advisor’s committee. At the division level she has served as Ambassador to the Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation and as Sergeant-at-Arms at many Kiwanis Conventions. Geri derives satisfaction in helping other and in serving the community she lives in, and is always ready to help.  Geri, congratulations on your well deserved award. We are very proud of you.
